(ORANGE COUNTY, CA) – Recognizing his decades of leadership and support for the California Society of CPAs Education Foundation, the group’s Board of Trustees has awarded its Meritorius Service Award to Gary M. Caporicci, CPA, CGFM, CFF of The Pun Group, LLP. The veteran accountant, who specializes in audit and management consulting for governmental organizations, received the honor in Pasadena during the foundation’s 50th anniversary festivities.
Mr. Caporicci began his accounting career more than 35 years ago. His resume includes tenure with large “Big 4” and “Big 8” accounting firms as well as a large national insurance and financial services firm. Prior to joining The Pun Group, he served as Founding Partner at Caporicci & Larson, a boutique firm specializing in government and nonprofit organizations.
He remains one of the accounting industry’s most influential advocates. Among his past leadership roles: Former Chair, CalCPA Government Accounting and Auditing Committee; Task Force Member of GASB 40 Deposits and Investment Risks Disclosure; and Current Chair and Speaker, CalCPA Governmental Accounting and Auditing State Conferences.
In addition, he has taught numerous certificate-level courses and workshops for professional organizations. Among them: the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA); California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO), Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA); and California Society of CPAs (CalCPAs).
